Abstract:By using a questionnaire survey and in-depth interviews, the current study finds that employees’ rights in China are often impaired not only in terms of material gains (such as the salary), but also spiritual needs (such as dignity of work). The result of this study also shows that mass media, on the one hand, is irreplaceable in terms of not only delivering knowledge of employees’ rights, but also enlightening them the consciousness of rights, as well as empowering them through news reports. On the other hand, employees are not satisfied with the news coverage of the issues of their rights in terms of both quantity and quality.
