Abstract:With the development of digital technology and the changes in people's daily dining habits, the catering industry in the digital economyhas achieved rapid development, creating a large number of employment opportunities for workers. Based on the data of food delivery personnel onthe food delivery platform, this study explored the motivation of individual employment in the digital gig economy. The study found that, althoughon the surface, most riders took the initiative to enter part-time employment to pursue work flexibility, increase their economice income and expandsocial networks, but in fact they had not really realized these three demands on the platform. The transformation of the labor market structure madethem passively 'squeeze in' to make a living, instead of actively choosing to enter odd jobs. Therefore, it is necessary for labor-intensive platformemployment groups to deeply look into the reasons why they really chose gig employment, so as to achieve "prescription of the right medicine" and"precise assistanee" in the policy formulation and implementation of assistanee.
