Abstract:Stabilizing employment in the manufacturing industry is the key to achieving fuller and higher-quality employment, and the decent work and all-round development of workers, and it is also a basic strategy and important measure to strengthen the employment priority policy. In recent years, both the total employment and the employment proportion in the manufacturing industry have declined. The important reason resulting in the current situation is due to the low wages and the negative growth of the working-age population. Economic transformation and upgrading have promoted the increase in employment demand in the manufacturing industry and the improvement of employment quality. However, it has also brought about structural differentiation, increasing the unemployment risk in some regions and industries. At present, problems arise such as the shortage of talents, high labor costs, low labor productivity, and high labor intensity in the manufacturing industry. To stabilize employment in manufacturing industry of our country, the current study proposes 1) enhancing the comprehensive competitiveness of the industry to increase the attractiveness of jobs; 2) strengthening the construction of innovative research and development carriers to create a highland for shortage of talents; 3) deepening the integration of production and education to promote the integration of the advantages of talent supply and demand; and 4) strengthening policy services to create a good institutional environment.
