Abstract:China has offi cially implemented the three-child policy and proposed to improve the supporting measures for the three-child policy in 2021. Given that China's female employment rate is among the highest in the world, the contradiction between rising labor costs of enterprises under the three-child policy and maternity protection for female employees will increasingly become more prominent. Based on the questionnaire survey and in-depth interview on the protection of the rights and interests of female workers in the workplace, and the systematic combing of the relevant legal systems of maternity protection in the workplace at home and abroad, this study puts forward policy recommendations for perfecting the maternity leave and lactation system and its supporting design: To implant the concept of maternity protection in the whole society; to comprehensively evaluate and improve China's maternity leave system; to give full play to the role of the government, employers and trade unions to implement maternity protection in the workplace; and to adapt to the breastfeeding needs of female employees and to innovate breastfeeding protection in the workplace.
