To strengthen the discipline construction of trade union studies is of great strategic significance in the new stage of development of socialism with Chinese characteristics. It is a key component for enriching the system of disciplines in philosophy and social sciences with Chinese characteristics. It is an urgent need to set up an independent knowledge system of trade unions in China. It entails the promotion of the stable and innovative development of the cause of labor movement and trade union work in China in the new era. It is of real necessity to enhance the professional construction of the cadres of trade unions. The study argues that trade union studies in China, by employing Marxist theory and methods, mainly studies the process of the formation and development of trade unions and the laws of trade union activities. It is the result of the localization of Marxist trade union theory in China, and should be cultivated and constructed in accordance with the fi rst-class subjects of Marxist theory. The logical structure of the theoretical system of trade union discipline in China should be centered on the ontological research of "trade union studies", and supported by the related research of "trade union +". For the purposes of promoting the construction of trade union discipline in China in the new era, it is suggested in the research that we should consolidate its organization and leadership, facilitate its academic degree education, enhance its academic research and the construction of teaching materials to form an academic community of trade unions in colleges and universities across the country
