Abstract:High-quality and full employment of migrant workers has been the focus of attention of all sectors of the society. Based on the 2017 China Migrants Dynamic Survey, this study analyzed the impact of trade union membership on the employment stability of migrant workers. The results of this study showed that joining the trade union has a signifi cant positive impact on the employment stability of migrant workers. Compared with highly skilled migrant workers, the trade union membership has a more distinct effect on the employment stability of low- and medium-skilled migrant workers. Moreover, compared with male migrant workers, the trade union membership has a greater impact on female migrant workers. Furthermore, it also has a greater impact on the employment stability of the non-state enterprise migrant workers than that of the state-owned ones. The study suggests that migrant workers should be guided to actively join the trade unions, whilst the trade unions should provide a variety of services for migrant workers of different skill levels, different genders, and different natures of unit.
