Abstract:In recent years, digital nomad practices and related research have fl ourished in China. This paper fi rst clarifi es the theoretical boundaries of the digital nomad concept. Through a systematic review of existing domestic research, it fi nds that current studies conducted primarily focus on four core themes: identity formation, mediatized practices, social interactions, and rural revitalization, while paying insuffi cient attention to sustained mobility and fl uidity among digital nomads. The study proposes that future research adopt the "new mobilities paradigm" as an analytical lens to investigate in depth the complex relationships between digital nomads’ mobility and their skills, emotions, and sense of place. Finally, it emphasizes that researchers should stimulate scholarly imagination through interdisciplinary perspectives and integrate multidisciplinary theories and methods to construct and develop a localized knowledge system for digital nomad studies.
